Conspiracy Theories

Face it, everyone who's a fan of any type of series has come up with theories to explain certain situations that may have a plothole in them in the actual series itself. And let's be frank, Resident Evil has got more plot holes in it than a piece of swiss cheese shot with a machine gun. Well, okay, maybe not THAT many, but it DOES have its fair share.

And of course, several of them are based around poor ol' Wesker. His very demeanor causes this to be true, his very character being the mysterious type, so as you can imagine, the theories derived about him are numerous and, often times, very off base and out of porportion. So, of course, I've decided to share my theories here, conspiracy theories maybe, but either way, you people get the point.

Some of these theories may be answered in future games, and some may not, but that's one of the things that make these games so much fun. So here's my list of conspiracy theories in no particular order:

Hey Wesker, take your shades off for a second, would ya?

Wesker's Virus: In Wesker's second report, he states that Birkin gave him a virus, so that's a no brainer. Birkin probably cooked something up in his kitchen (no, not literally), and said "Here ya go" to be very very basic about it. The thing is, people are wondering, WHEN did Wesker inject himself with said goodie goodie?

Now, of course, it had to be before July 28th, 1998, or ON July 28th, during the mansion incident. I have two theories that explain this fairly well, and even Wesker's Report #2 points to these possibilities as being very probable. First of all, I'm thinking it probably wasn't too long before the mansion incident. But his eyes were, in fact, still blue during the incident. So here's my theory.

The virus incubated in his body, not quite able to take over completely until such time as he was incapacitated, as in when he was 'killed' by the Tyrant. Once that happened, the virus was able to rewrite his genetics or whatnot in favor of its own 'matrix' if you get my drift. Basically, it took over him, and he lost his humanity. Poor guy. =\

Some people say that his eyes were changed, judging from clips of him in Remake, by the time Chris found him in the basement lab of the mansion. But I'm sorry people, I've watched those cut scenes, I'VE WATCHED THEM CLOSELY (you're talking to a girl who's obsessed with the man here), and I can see NO ALL CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE that his eyes have changed at all. Now, I CAN say that you DO see them very well in certain scenes, but not well enough to see the pupil or the color.

The second is that he'd actually injected himself long before the mansion incident, and once again, the virus was incubating in his body until such time as he was incapacited or 'killed' as it were.

Conspiracy Update: As of Umbrella Chronicles, the mystery around when Wesker injected himself has been solved. But questions still remain as to the type of virus he injected himself with. However, the answer would be ON July 28th, JUST BEFORE the Tyrant killed him, which ultimately means his eyes were blue at the time.

T or G, take your pick...

T Virus, or G Virus?: This annoys the hell out of me. What, you might ask? The fact that I hear OVER and OVER again that "He must've gotten a 'mild' form of the G Virus". I'm sorry, but I do believe that's a crock of shit.

First of all, the G Virus by its very nature is mutagenic, as in, it constantly mutates its host, over and over again without end. Now, the T Virus is also mutagenic, but it has a set mutation path. It doesn't constantly change how it mutates someone or something. Normally, people turn into Zombies, and that's its extent. And even there, it's not exactly mutating someone, not in the same instance anyway.

Wesker has shown only ONE sign of mutation, physically, which are his eyes. Now it IS true, he COULD have a form we don't know of yet, but I honestly don't see this as being the case. What separates Wesker from other monsters is that he's, well, normal looking. And I think it was part of the plot to make him this way. So that you can look and say "Oh, here's a normal guy...wait...shit, he's NOT! X_X" So this is my whole point.

I don't believe it was a 'mild' ~scoffs~ form of the G Virus simple because Biology, by its very nature, is a long and tedious proccess when it comes to development and research, just like with any science. Usually the scientist doesn't even get to see or reap the benefits of his or her work. That being said, the G Virus wasn't even completed when Wesker was 'killed' in the mansion. Sure, it was close, but it WASN'T. That being said, there's no way that sometime beforehand, Birkin could have given him a 'mild' form of it when he didn't even know everything about the original form, and that being said, no way Wesker would be stupid enough to take it without knowing every possible outcome of what it could do to him.

Therefore, I think it was a genetically altered form of the T Virus, or maybe even a virus we haven't heard of/seen before yet. Eventually, I'm pretty sure, they will tell us what virus he has, but until then, I'm going to seriously doubt it was the G Virus or anything to do with it. Just because Birkin gave it to him doesn't mean it was the G Virus, and it just urks me that when someone mentions something about Birkin, people automatically jump to the conclusion that it has/had to do with the G Virus. The man DID do T Virus research too, ya know?

Here's lookin' at you, kid...

The Inhuman Human: "Sure I'm not human anymore, but look at all the power I've gained!" There it is, right from the horses mouth. Wesker isn't human anymore, he's...something else. If this isn't a good grounds for a conspiracy theory, then I don't know what is. So let's tackle it shall we?

Well, if he's not human, then what the FUCK is he? Most say Tyrant, and I agree with that. He's, physically, what Umbrella wanted to achieve all along as far as Tyrants are concerned, except one tiny detail, which I'll get to in a second. But you see, all along, and read the archive books, it states it clearly, Umbrella wanted to make a super powerful creature that LOOKED human. That's what Mr. X was, another form of a Tyrant that looked much more human than the 001 did. Nemesis was a form of Tyrant, though, he was created more for control.

And there's the detail that makes Wesker not exactly what they wanted. Control. They can't control him. He has a mind of his own, has retained his consciousness from his previous life as a human, has memories, feelings, and experiences from that former life, unlike all other B.O.W.'s which, well, don't know shit except maybe to feed or, in Nemesis's case, kill the former members of S.T.A.R.S..

And it's here that the question is raised. It's far too apparent that the man has feelings, states himself that he's angry over having given up his humanity for nothing when his plans were ruined, and he even states that he 'despises Chris', meaning that he DOES in fact have a capacity for feeling. He has the need for revenge, and revenge is fueled by anger over the loss of something special or important to someone, no matter what it might be. This in itself proves that the man isn't emotionless.

So what's his loss in his humanity? Of course, he could be referring to the physical aspect alone when he says he's no longer human, but to say you've given up your humanity suggests you've lost something that you had before that makes you human. Then again, we also have to consider that the man was, is, a sociopath, so anything he says is going to be based on those grounds. What were his own rules that defined what made him human? Before, he had no remorse, and now, he still doesn't. It kinda makes me go googly eyed ._. .

In all honesty, I think he still has the same feelings as before, but I think he acts more on primal instincts than he does on human emotion or even logical thought, though he's a clever bastard, so logical thought would indeed play a major role in his actions and how he works within society.

I also think that because of his more base instincts taking a hold in him, that any emotion he feels afterwards is intensified, amplified, so he might've been willing to, say for instance, leave Chris alone before. Then again, maybe not. This is a really hard Conspiracy Theory to explain because there's just so many "what if's" and unknowns. But saying he DOES act more on primal instinct now, then things ARE alot worse than they could be indeed.

WHO'S YOUR DADDY!?

Sherry Birkin, or Sherry Wesker?: I know what you're thinking, "Sherry isn't Wesker's daughter! No way!" And I myself am tempted to take your side in this, but...what if...

The biggest problem with this conspiracy theory is...how the hell was Sherry conceived in the first place, saying that she is, indeed, Wesker's daughter? Because I for one can NOT see Wesker sleeping with Anette at ALL. For one, the way Anette fawns over William Birkin, well, I honestly believe that kind of behavior would seriously turn Wesker off. Not that, saying he were married, he wouldn't want a wife to admire him, but with Anette's demeanor, I really don't see Wesker as being all, "Hi ho, you've been bad, go to my room."

But that's fine. Thankfully, we have an entire pharmecuetical corporation at our disposal to work out a theory for this. YAY! So, with that being said, here goes...

Spencer is a calculating bastard. Birkin is his bitch. Birkin, the one of the two who has less of an ability to read people than Wesker does, is probably fairly easily controlled by Spencer on terms of manipulation. Wesker probably manipulated him as well, but that's a story for another day. For now, let's talk about Spencer and Birkin, and possible reasons WHY.

Birkin is seeing a researcher named Anette. Spencer sees promise, after all, I can very easily see Spencer as being the type to want to do embryonic testing. So maybe he even pushes a relationship between the two. Here's where the reasons why come into play.

Maybe Birkin's soldiers don't march, or maybe it has to do with this virus that Birkin is developing for Wesker genetically. But either way, Birkin, who no doubt has access to Wesker's DNA, could've easily swiped it, or unknowingly been given it by Spencer/some other researcher following Spencer's orders. Now, the purpose of using this DNA? Of course, it would be to fertilize one of Anette's eggs and impregnate her.

The reasons why, as I'd said, are numerous indeed, maybe Wesker just has good genes, maybe Birkin just wanted a kid and he couldn't have one himself because he was infertile, or maybe this that and the other. The point being that Wesker DOES say "There's something about this little girl", and that he would "never underestimate Birkin". And Sherry DOES favor Wesker, it's easy to see of course, though that's hardly conclusive at all. Still though, there MIGHT be more to this little girl than you know, Wesker, or that we know you know anyway...~cough~
